Position Description
- QC/QA Manager for a Biotech Manufacturing Company.
- This is a 6 – 12 month consulting position so the candidates must be within a commutable distance from the facilities.
- This is for candidates with GLP and GMP experience.
Position Responsibilities - In charge of overall Quality Control/Assurance program including ISO and CLIA.
- Create and maintain Quality Control/Assurance program.
- Establish and maintain documented system for QC/QA, ISO and CLIA compliance.
- Monitor and review product quality.
- Assure compliance to specifications on raw materials and manufactured goods.
- Oversee QC/QA, ISO and CLIA program and activities.
- Provide training in QA, GMP and CLIA.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements - Must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological/Medical Sciences or equivalent.
- At least 4 years experience in management of QC/QA, ISO, FDA Regulatory and/or CLIA compliance.
- Excellent management, interpersonal, communication and computer literacy skills.
- Highly self-motivated with leadership ability.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin a huge plus, but not a requirement.

Job Title
Position Description
- The Quality Control Manager has a wide variety of responsibilities.
- He/She is responsible for performing analysis on raw materials as well as finished product in order to ensure that the company receives and releases only the highest quality of products.
- He/She is responsible for analyzing all products and reporting all findings to the Quality Control Director.
- He/She directly reports to the Quality Control Director and Plant Manager.
- He/She is also responsible for immediately communicating with the Quality Control Director and Plant Manager any issues that he/she sees in the plant.
- The Quality Control Manger is required to perform his/her job functions in accordance with all company policies, operating procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA, FDA, USDA Laws and Guidelines.
Position Responsibilities - Drawing samples of and analyzing all incoming raw materials and finished products
- Inputting all gathered data into the database & printing reports
- Notifying a Company Officer that materials are ready for disposition
- Having Director approve all records and materials for incoming materials
- Filing supplier documentation including certificates of analysis, specifications, Kosher certificates, letters of guarantee, etc.
- Immediately notifying Director of any missing paperwork or discrepancies
- Regularly monitoring QC1 Hold in conjunction with Inventory Control to ensure timely removal of old product
- Distributing paperwork for MDRs, Corrective Action Reports, rejection signs, etc.
- Reprogramming and checking all metal detectors as necessary for various products
- Entering, printing and filing Foreign Material data into database daily
- Collecting and running microbiological and chemical tests on incoming and outgoing products, including sending to third party lab when necessary
- Immediately notifying the QC Director of any problems/issues
- Cleaning instruments, equipment and the lab when necessary
- Conduct various physical, chemical and microbiological analyses on incoming raw materials as well as finished product
- Monitor all finished materials including weight, nitrogen flushing, product labeling, allergen labeling, Kosher labeling, etc.
- Filing of all customer requirement documents
- Filing current Material Safety Data Sheets for chemicals used in plant as well as Pest Control Chemicals
- Create MDR’s, CAR’s, Product Problem Notices, Product Incident Reports
- Logging levels of foreign material in raw materials and finished products
- Have knowledge of how to coordinate sterilization or fumigation of product
- Have knowledge of Kosher Certification and company’s interaction with Chicago Rabbinical Council including monthly audits by cRc
- Conduct allergen/sanitation swabbing to prevent cross contamination and verify satisfactory cleaning of equipment
- Have basic knowledge of State and Local Health Department Laws, FDA and USDA Guidelines or willing to learn
- Have knowledge of Recall System and understand how and when to use it
- Have knowledge of in house and contracted pest control schedule
- Have knowledge of in house sanitation and maintenance schedules
- Have knowledge of SQF Standards and Code
- Have knowledge of and comply will all HACCP Program requirements
- Immediately alert QC Director of any deviation from HACCP Program
- Investigating product related to returned product, customer complaints and inquiries
- Conducting analysis of all returned products and damaged product
- Calibrate and test all metal detectors, scales, roasting temperatures, cooler thermometers, etc. per schedule
- Filing of all records relating to incoming raw materials and finished products
- Perform random “hand checks” to ensure proper hand washing techniques being followed by all employees
- Filling in for multiple other positions on short notice during absences, sickness,travel, etc.
- Should be able to safely lift 35 LB on occasion or with assistance
- Other tasks as requested which relate to Quality Control Department
Position Requirements - Must be fluent in verbal and written English
- Computer skills necessary in MS Office (WINMAN/Bartender (Training Provided))
- Basic knowledge of GMP’s/HACCP/FDA/USDA/SQF and Company Food Safety Program
- Experience working in a food manufacturing/plant environment
- Understanding of product, food safety, food quality, manufacturing and paperwork flow
- Bachelor’s Degree in a science/agricultural field
- 1-3 years experience in food manufacturing/processing
- Be detail minded, clear, organized, and efficient at all times
- Willing to take instructions from upper management other than immediate supervisor.
